Hazy dark gold. Large off-white head on pour, with OK surface retention and good loose lacing. Thick, rich, bit pine, juicy.

The Fardel Barrels by Chapter Brewing positive

Rated on 2024-08-10 by BeerDorkNik at Londis Penny Lane, Liverpool

Quality: 70, Enjoyability: 72, Overall: 71

Rich ruby. Some tan head on pour, dispersing, with thin halo retention but no lacing. Barley Sugar, woody booze, cinder toffee aroma. Similar taste and after, although that doesn't do it justice. Rich, thick, bit spicey.

Biscoff Lucaria by Thornbridge positive

Rated on 2024-09-05 by BeerDorkNik at Market Cat, York

Quality: 62, Enjoyability: 65, Overall: 63.5

Black. OK creamy tan head as poured, very good retention and lacing. Biscoff aroma. Creamy vanilla (?), roasty Porter taste, bit Biscoff, and similar after. Bit too rich to drink a lot (more than 2 pints) of, maybe?

Zombie Death by Northern Monk positive

Rated on 2024-10-26 by BeerDorkNik at Tesco

Quality: 70, Enjoyability: 78, Overall: 74

Black cherry. Very good dark tan head on pour, with OK retention and good lacing. Neopolitan ice cream aroma, bit dry (freeze dried strawberries?). Strawberry icecream taste, rich and creamy chocolate after. Sweet. The richness, as much as the ABV, would make it hard to drink much.

Monty's Imperial Stout by Monty's Brewery positive

Rated on 2025-01-12 by BeerDorkNik at Chester Beer & Wine

Quality: 69, Enjoyability: 68, Overall: 68.5

Black. Some dark tan head on pour, but no retention or lacing. Deep, boozy, roast malt aroma, bit creamy, developing ?charcoal? and vanilla. Thick effervescence. Thick, rich, malty booze taste, almost cocoa after. Served very cold, as everything is at the moment…

Patron's Project 38.05 Greed [X Transient Artisan Ales, Lallemand Brewing] by Northern Monk positive

Rated on 2025-03-14 by BeerDorkNik at Black Cat Taproom

Quality: 78.5, Enjoyability: 81, Overall: 79.75

Black. Good dark tan foam head on pour, but only thin halo and little surface retention, with some loose lacing. Coffee, tonka bean, warm vanilla aroma. Similar taste, bit carrot cake spiced and dry (as in, no liquid) cocoa coffee after. Tingles on the tongue, more like spice than effervescence.

Black Grape Buckie by Vault City positive

Rated on 2025-04-02 by BeerDorkNik at Head of Steam, Liverpool

Quality: 73, Enjoyability: 71.5, Overall: 72.25

Purple. Some pink head as poured, dispersing. Ribeana, red wine aroma. Rich, Port wine and sweet bramble fruit taste and after. Creamy, with many tiny bubbles. Very expensive! (More than £10 a half, with no warning. That’s more a criticism of the bar staff this visit - they usually warn me when I order an expensive craft beer, nevermind two at once… - than of the beer itself.)

Crème by Vault City positive

Rated on 2025-05-09 by BeerDorkNik at BrewDog

Quality: 73, Enjoyability: 74, Overall: 73.5

Black. Some clumpy head on pour, more like milk solids than a normal head, good retention and some lacing / dregs (I know I’m not really selling this here…). Cream Egg aroma. Similar taste and after – very sweet, very rich, with a hint of a drier chocolate under. Viscous. Can was damaged in transit, so I had to have immediately (what a hardship…), may not properly reflect usual head / retention.

Black. Some dark tan head as poured, with OK retention and lacing. Chocolate hazelnut aroma. Nutty, chocolate, rich taste and after. Bit thick.

Rated on 2025-08-17 by BeerDorkNik at Doctor Duncan's

Quality: 65.5, Enjoyability: 61, Overall: 63.25

Black, with some tan head as poured. Cinnamon frosted pastry aroma. Rich, slightly fruitcake spice, taste, drier similar after. Tiny bit viscous, with some soft effervescence.

Quality: 66.5, Enjoyability: 64, Overall: 65.25

Rich chestnut. Good tan head on pour, with halo and good surface retention, and very good lacing. Rich malt cocoa aroma, drier, bit stale, under. Rich cocoa (again. Need more synonyms…) taste with a citrus kick, dry similar after. Creamy, with a peppery effervescence.
